The Sheriff’s Youth Ranch provides the opportunity for BLDG 28 to serve foster children within 3 cottage homes along with their cottage parents. We minister every third Saturday of the month, preparing dinner, dining with them, cleaning the cottages, and playing outside with other volunteers from B28 (all the while giving the cottage parents a much needed break). We are striving to build relationships with the children, teens and cottage parents to intentionally connect them to the Gospel and the life found in the person of Jesus.
The Nursing Home is a ministry to seniors adults who, like everyone else, needs the true Gospel proclaimed. Each Sunday at 1:45 pm, BLDG 28 conducts a worship service for the residents of the home, leading them through songs, talking through the Gospel, and having conversations with those who attend.
Our outreach in downtown Dunedin was created to serve the city of Dunedin. BLDG 28 is very passionate about this community and wants to be connected to the local businesses there. One Saturday a month BLDG 28 will meet in Dunedin at 10 AM and put together muffin goodie bags with an invitation to BLDG28 and $1 off coupon tied around it. Then volunteers will take these goodie bags and distribute them around the community. Our purpose is to hand out literature about the church, promote an upcoming event or service, let businesses know we are there to serve them and reach people with the Gospel through invitation or conversation.
High Point through the YMCA is an incredible way for us to reach a neighborhood of 8,000 working class families desperate for the Gospel. BLDG 28 goes out every last Saturday of each month to the YMCA, providing hot dogs, fruit, and water for the families. Through relationship building and now the addition of the Gospel Project curriculum for kids, we are seeing Gospel progress made in this neighborhood.
Bay Area Pregnancy Center allows us to minister to families and single mothers. Many clients coming to the Pregnancy Center are parents in need of guidance and spiritual direction. On the second Saturday of each month we provide meals for families, as well as activities and crafts for the children. This is a unique but incredibly needed ministry that meets the spiritual and physical needs of young families and unprepared mothers.
At our High Point 2.0 outreach, we meet at a Mobile Park Home one Saturday a month at 12 PM to serve hot dogs or pizza, paint nails, play soccer or kickball and present the Gospel Project. Our purpose here is to reach more of the community of High Point (along with the High Point YMCA outreach) with the Gospel, both English and Spanish speakers.
