Who We Are
Bldg 28 is a community of believers in Jesus Christ striving to think Biblically and live on mission in our city and throughout the world for the glory of God.
A non-denominational church believing in the authority of the Christian scriptures for our life and practice, we hold to the essential orthodox Christian beliefs as best expressed in the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the London Baptist Confession of 1689.
We believe that the local church is God’s primary mission strategy, and therefore the means by which Jesus is made more famous as communities of light are scattered throughout the world to dispel the darkness. We are partnered in Gospel-ministry for church planting with the Acts 29 Church Planting Network.
Our name represents our core values and beliefs:
Believe Biblically
Scripture is the infallible record of God’s self-disclosure to humanity, and is essential to proclaiming the pure Gospel and leading souls to sincere faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, by declaring and believing the Bible we are lining up with historic Christianity and delivering the legitimate message of Divine grace.
Love Communally
The church is called out by God to be a family, speaking truth to and caring deeply for one another. Therefore, through instruction, groups, and various other avenues we are purposefully endeavoring to unite believers to one another in a genuine community of faith.
The 28 in our name stems from the mantra of our church:
“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” – Colossians 2:8 ESV
Disciple Intentionally
The mission of the church is clear: go and make disciples. Therefore, while clinging to the ancient truths of Christianity and engaging our culture with this truth, we are resolved to reach into and roll back the darkness of this world through the faithful proclamation of the Gospel and the intentional multiplication of disciples of Jesus.
For God's Glory
The primary purpose of all humanity and every local church is to enjoy God and glorify Him forever. Therefore, through the Gospel, community, and discipleship we strive to point others to Jesus in hope that He will be adored and proclaimed through our lives and our lips.
